WHY I NEVER DESIGN WITH EMPTY BOXES

Blueprint grid with the orange K mark

Every project I take on starts with a call, not a canvas. Before I open Framer or Wix Studio, I want to know what you sell, who you sell it to and why they should pick you over everyone else.

That’s because grey boxes and lorem ipsum lie to you. A layout can look clean with placeholder text and fall apart the moment real words go in.

1. Content shapes the design

Your headline decides how big the type can be. Your photos decide the grid. Your offer decides where the button goes. Design without them and you’re decorating a guess.

2. You sign off faster

When you see your own words on screen, feedback stops being “can we make it pop?” and starts being useful. Fewer rounds, quicker launch.

3. It’s better for SEO

Real headings and real copy mean I can plan page structure, titles and keywords from day one, instead of bolting them on at the end.

What I do instead

  • Write the hero headline before I design the hero

  • Use your real photos from the first draft, even rough ones

  • Give every page one clear action

No empty boxes. Just a site that’s ready to work.
